🔒 Security Measures

- Practice data and recordings are stored on secure cloud infrastructure
- Authentication managed through enterprise-grade authentication provider (Clerk)
- Access controls ensure users can only access their own data and authorized content

- Audio recordings processed on-device when possible (TensorFlow Lite)
Data Storage Location: Your data is stored on secure cloud infrastructure (PostgreSQL database and cloud storage) with industry-standard security practices.
Audio Processing: The mobile app uses TensorFlow Lite to process audio on your device when possible, minimizing data transmission. Audio data used for practice analysis is processed and converted to MIDI format, and we do not retain raw audio files unless explicitly saved by you.
Data Sharing and Third Parties
We do not sell or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.
We use the following trusted third-party services to provide our platform:
- Clerk: User authentication and identity management
- PostgreSQL (Cloud Provider): Secure database storage
- Cloud Storage Provider: Secure storage for lesson recordings and media
- Google Meet: Video conferencing for lesson recordings (Chrome Extension only)
- Analytics Services: Usage analytics when implemented (we will update this policy)
These services are bound by their own privacy policies and security standards. We ensure all third-party providers meet strict data protection requirements.
Your Rights and Controls

- You control when audio recording starts and stops
- MIDI data is only collected when you actively play
- Lesson recordings require consent from all participants

- Teachers can view data you explicitly share with them

Mobile App Permissions
Our mobile application requests the following permissions:
- Microphone (RECORD_AUDIO): To record your piano playing and convert it to MIDI data for practice analysis
- Internet: To sync your practice data, access content, and communicate with our servers
- USB MIDI: To connect to USB MIDI keyboards (no special permission required on Android)
Note: We have removed Bluetooth and location permissions from the initial version. These may be added in future updates for Bluetooth MIDI keyboard support, and we will update this policy accordingly.
Data Retention
- Account Data: Retained while your account is active
- Practice Data: Retained to track your progress over time
- Lesson Recordings: Retained until you delete them
- Account Deletion: All data permanently deleted within 30 days of account deletion
- Inactive Accounts: Accounts inactive for 3+ years may be archived or deleted with advance notice
Children's Privacy
Our Services are designed for users of all ages, including children learning piano. For users under 13 years old (or applicable age in your jurisdiction), we require parental consent. Parents and guardians can request to review, modify, or delete their child's information by contacting us at privacy@looppie.app.
International Users
If you are accessing our Services from outside the United States, please note that your data may be transferred to and stored on servers located in the United States or other countries. By using our Services, you consent to such transfer and processing in accordance with this privacy policy and applicable data protection laws.
Account Deletion
You have the right to delete your account and all associated data at any time. Upon account deletion, all your personal information, practice data, recordings, and other content will be permanently removed from our systems.
How to Request Account Deletion

- Subject line: "Account Deletion Request"
- We will process your request within 30 days
What Gets Deleted
- Your profile information (name, email, profile picture)
- All practice session data and performance history
- MIDI recordings and audio files
- Assignment submissions and feedback
- Progress tracking and achievement data
- Teacher-student relationship data
Note: Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. Some aggregated, anonymized data may be retained for analytics purposes in compliance with applicable laws.
Partial Data Deletion
You can delete specific data without deleting your entire account:
- Practice Sessions: Delete individual practice sessions from your history
- Recordings: Delete specific lesson recordings from your library
- Assignments: Teachers can delete assignments and associated submissions
To perform partial deletions, use the delete options available in your dashboard or contact us at privacy@looppie.app for assistance.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. We will notify users of material changes through email, in-app notifications, or by posting a notice on our website. The "Last updated" date at the top of this policy indicates when it was last revised. Your continued use of our Services after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
